Cat breeds - American Bobtail Short Hair

The American Bobtail Shorthair cat belongs to a relatively new American breed that really stand out for its short tail. She has a fluffy coat and is regarded as playful and fond of children. The tail of American Bobtail Shorthair is only about one third as long as the normal domestic cats and is a little off the top. This gives the cat the appearance somewhat like lynx, but a direct relationship does not exist. The American feline friend is stocky and strong, her chest is massive, the hind legs are slightly longer than the front legs. Its broad head with almond-shaped eyes fall on a pronounced snout and just such whisker pads. The cat’s ears are medium in size and have rounded tips, hair tufts are desirable in the breed. A short, thick fur with a lot of undercoat is characteristic of the American Bobtail Shorthair. The long-haired representative of this breed is called American Bobtail Longhair.

The American Bobtail Shorthair: Smart and socially

The American Bobtail Shorthair is bred in the US since the late 60s and is not associated or affiliated with the Lynx still with the similar Japanese Bobtail cat. The first litter emerged from the cross between a short-tailed domestic cat and a Siamese cat. The gene for the short tail is inherited dominantly. The wise family cat is social, affectionate and calm, it is usually very good with other animals (including dogs) out. Because they do not like being alone, you should give her a conspecific, or take much time for them. The dense coat of the American Bobtail Short Hair should be brushed regularly so that it does not mate. Many cats enjoy it and see it as caress.
